Voor de DIP'ers staat er op woensdag 19 december 2007 vanaf 21.30 uur een rondleiding gepland bij het Ann Myers Medical Center (AMMC). DoctorAnn Buchanan en Vera Zhaoying, een Nederlandse student aan het AMMC, zullen deze avond onze gids zijn.

Het centrum is opgezet om te bekijken of er langs virtuele weg mogelijkheden zijn om studenten technieken te leren voor het verlenen van eerste hulp. Voor meer informatie over het AMMC kun je het bericht in de DIP-community lezen.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

For the DIP'ers a tour is planned for Wednesday 19 December 2007 from 21.30 on (0.30pm SLT), at the Ann Meyers Medical Center (AMMC). DoctorAnn Buchanan and Vera Zhaoying, a Dutch student at the AMMC, will be our guide for this evening.

The center has been founded to find out about the possibilities for teaching students in a virtual way the techniques for emergency help. For more information about the AMMC you can read the message in the DIP community. (The community is in Dutch, however the message is available in English.)

DIP in SL / DIP in SL

DIP staat voor Dutch Information Professionals en daarvan zijn er inmiddels al minimaal negen in Second Life (SL) te vinden. Gisteravond hadden we de eerste bijeenkomst van deze nieuwe groep. Oudgediende Guus (Namro Orman in SL) liet ons een interessante link naar het echte leven zien: een display waarmee je vanuit SL kunt zoeken in Flickr, waarna de gevonden foto's weer in SL worden getoond. Erg handig!

Maar bij mij werkte het tonen van de plaatjes helaas niet. Kijk even bij Marina hoe het eruit had moeten zien. Ik zie alleen een testbeeld. Maar goed, sinds kort heb ik een spiksplinternieuwe laptop, dus daar kan ik het ook nog eens op proberen! :-)

Organisatie??
Verder was het wel een rommelig gezelschap die avond. Voor de volgende keer zullen we er eens wat meer organisatie tegenaan gooien! Die volgende keer zal zijn op woensdag 12 december. Vanaf 21.30 uur nemen we een kijkje op de Nederlandse eilandengroep genaamd 0031 (SLurl), waar we door Anita61 Anatine worden rondgeleid.

Goed trouwens dat er wat nieuwe gezichten bij waren! Binnenkort meer over deze club van negen.. of meer tegen die tijd! ;-)

Als je ook mee wilt doen, trouwens: meld je snel aan voor een tweede leven via http://secondlife.com, worstel je door het oriëntatiegebeuren en stuur daarna een instant message (IM) naar Christi Janus. Euh.. Dat ben ik dus. Dan zorg ik dat je een uitnodiging voor de groep krijgt en op de hoogte wordt gehouden van al het moois dat er staat te gebeuren! Klinkt goed hè?

En sinds enkele dagen is ook het rapport uit van het vervolgonderzoek dat het EPN deed naar SL. Hier het persbericht. Aanvragen van het rapport gaat per e-mail, want het rapport zelf is, vreemd genoeg, niet te downloaden.

DIP is short for Dutch Information Professionals and at least nine of those can be found in Second Life (SL) already. Yesterday evening we had the first meeting of this new group. Old hand Guus (Namro Orman in SL) showed us an interesting link to real life: a display which lets you search in Flickr from within SL, after which the pictures that were found can be viewed in SL. Very handy!

But unfortunately this didn't work on my computer. Check Marina's blog as to how it was supposed to look. All I see is a test screen. But anyway, I just bought myself a new laptop, so I could try it on that one too! :-)

Organized??
For the rest it was quite a mess that evening. Next time we should try to have some more things organized! That next time will be Wednesday December 12. From 9.30pm (0.30pm SLT) on, we'll have a look at the Dutch island group 0031 (SLurl), where we'll be toured around by Anita61 Anatine.

Good to see some new faces, by the way! Soon more about this group of nine.. or more, by then! ;-)
