Duitse bloggers in de clinch met nationale bieb

Van Rob kreeg ik een pagina uit de IP van deze maand doorgestuurd, vanwege een stukje over Les 2.0, waar ook onze nationale archiefdienst aan meewerkt. Dat project, van Beeld en Geluid, heeft een prijs van wel 1.1 miljoen eurootjes gewonnen! Poehee...

Maar er stond nóg een aardig artikel op datzelfde blad, over een weblogarchiveringsidee van de Duitse nationale bieb:

De Duitse nationale bibliotheek wil ook weblogs, homepages en discussieforums bewaren voor het nageslacht. Het nieuwe archiveringsplan valt niet goed bij de Duitse webloggemeenschap. Bloggers willen niet dat hun privéleven voor de eeuwigheid bewaard wordt.

Maar in Duitsland hebben bloggers niet zoveel te willen. De wet schrijft voor dat iedereen moet meewerken met de Deutsche Nationalbibliothek.

Lekker is dat...

Niet meewerken kan je een boete van een slordige 10.000 euro opleveren! Hoe het aanleveren dan precies in z'n werk gaat, is trouwens nog onduidelijk. Volgens het artikeltje wordt gedacht aan pdf-bestanden en/of screenshots. De Duitse blogosphere beraadt zich overigens al op acties, lees ik.

Gewoon tussen al het Amerikaanse stemgeweld door, hoorde ik zojuist dat een van mijn blog posts is genomineerd voor de Archivopedia Blog Award van februari, een initiatief van de Archivopedia. Het gaat om die post over een tweede leven voor een oude Nederlandse kaart.

Ik was afgelopen februari ook al vrijwilliger van de maand in dat tweede leven, dus als jullie nou allemaal maar op mij stemmen, dan moet ik me straks nog een virtuele prijzenkast gaan aanschaffen! :-)

Oké, tot zover weer de streling van het eigen ego.. Terug aan het werk nou!

(Sneu detail trouwens: ik was nog nooit zo weinig online in SL als deze maand februari..)

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

Straight in between the American elections, I just heard about one of my blog entries being nominated for the Archivopedia Blog Award of February, an initiative by the Archivopedia. The entry concerned is the one about a second life for an old Dutch map.

Last February I already had been voted to be Volunteer of the Month in that same second life, so when you'll all vote for me now, I might even have to buy myself a display cabinet for all of those awards! :-)

Ok, that's enough pleasing of my own ego.. Back to work now!

(Sad detail though: I never before have been online in SL so little as this month February..)

In de categorie ongelofelijke verhalen die echt waar blijken te zijn deze keer mijn uitverkiezing tot Vrijwilliger van de Maand op de Informatie Archipel in Second Life (SL). Hier het juryrapport:

Christi has been volunteering on Info, Info International, and as founder of the Archivists group for over a year now. He is a vital and active member in a number of groups and participates willingly and wholeheartedly in special events and activities. Always helpful and friendly; insightful and straightforward; his volunteer work here on the Information Archipelago is greatly valued!

Het was de eerste keer dat vakgenoten zelf collega's mochten nomineren en mochten stemmen. Zoals één bieb'er het verwoordde: The first chance we got to vote and everyone chose that awful Dutch archivist.. (En dit is dan nog de reactie van een van m'n beste vrienden!)

Maar goed, mijn ego is groot genoeg om hier trots op te zijn. Vooral omdat er ook naar persoonlijkheidskenmerken is gekeken. De prijs bestaat uit je beeltenis (in SL dan) een maand lang op een bord naast de inlichtingenbalie (SLurl), waar iedereen het goed kan zien.. haha! :-)

Oké, genoeg onbescheidenheid nu! Er moet gewerkt worden..

In the category unbelievable stories that appear to be true this time my election for Volunteer of the Month at the Information Archipelago in Second Life (SL). Here's the jury report:

Christi has been volunteering on Info, Info International, and as founder of the Archivists group for over a year now. He is a vital and active member in a number of groups and participates willingly and wholeheartedly in special events and activities. Always helpful and friendly; insightful and straightforward; his volunteer work here on the Information Archipelago is greatly valued!

It was the first time SL librarians were allowed to nominate and vote for a colleague. As one librarian put this: The first chance we got to vote and everyone chose that awful Dutch archivist.. (And this even is the comment of one of my best friends!)

But anyway, my ego is big enough to be proud of this. Especially since also personality characteristics have been taken in consideration. The prize consists of your portrait (in SL) a whole month on a board next to the reference desk, so everybody can have a good look at it.. hehe! :-)

Ok, enough immodesty for now! There's work to get done..
